Inspired by memories of the last summer nights before winter arrives, the Bain de Minuit collection explores nostalgia as a creative force.
Rooted in our past experiences, nostalgia calls upon familiar places, sensations and shared moments to bring forth new emotions that resonate with the present. Memories take shape through perceptions, emotions and personal associations that evolve over time, changing while retaining a blurred and distorted trace of the original experience.
The collection draws on memories of summer nights: swimming after dark, dark water, vegetation and the warmth that lingers after sunset. These images and sensations form a shared imaginary world, without evoking the same experiences for everyone. Bain de Minuit explores the distance between a shared atmosphere and the individual memories it awakens.
This reflection extends to the principle of custom work. Although the grillz designs share common forms, each piece is made from its owner's dental impression. The initial shape adapts to each person's anatomy, creating a unique piece.
The grillz are made from 925 silver and enamelled using a traditional technique, fired in a ceramic kiln. Each piece is made entirely by hand, revealing irregularities and variations unique to its making.
This study approaches nostalgia as a material in motion: an apparently shared experience that time shapes differently for each person. Like a single grillz design whose form becomes unique through its contact with each individual.
